How Minefield clearance works

The purpose of Minefield clearance is to recover the land from all sort of danger and to declare the field as a land free from landmines and safe for civilization. It’s a process of removing land-mines, naval-mines from an area and the decision of clearing the minefield is largely dependent on its funding process. Land-mines and other explosives are barriers to development of a poor country which they can be found anywhere and they also deprive the poor of basic needs such as access to water, health facilities and agricultural and fertile land. They often make a largely productive land a waste which hampers the growth and productivity of the country.
Many countries and organizations have been supporting the establishment of new community to use the land properly and for the sustainable development of poor countries that will also help in reducing poverty. Many countries are leading contributor to international mine clearance efforts, victim assistance and minefield clearance action programmes will help to re-establish their living.
To clear a minefield, there are often huge machines and rollers which are used to clear the path to make it safe for use. There are several machines that are specially designed for minefield clearance to clear out or detonate mines. Clearance course of the mine approximately takes six weeks followed by the close supervision of the field. Large machines are used for minefield clearance and no consideration is given to the damage of natural environment. There are different types of mine-clearing machines. Most of new upcoming machines are remote controlled which reduces the risk of any danger. There are many techniques that are used to clear the field including flailing chains to beat the ground, rollers to roll over and detonate the mines or blades to plough through the minefield pushing the mines to the side.
In comparison with the old machines, new machines coming up are 25 times faster. New technology will make it easier to locate and diminish mines but can’t prevent their placement. If we continue to use landmines, these machines they will be a danger for both civilian and soldiers. Therefore, more security methods should be adopted to define the newly cleared area. We should encourage the improved innovation and technology. However, there should be proper rules and regulations for testing the quality and effectiveness of new devices. This will give better returns to the donors which will further encourage them to invest in new ideas and technology.
To progress the minefield clearance activity and to improve the safety of land, there is a need of effective human efforts and mine clearing equipments. Accurate and appropriate mine cleaning techniques will result in clearance of the field.
